One of my employees told me she was pregnant and she expects to get maternity pay but she hasn’t even worked a full year in my company. Is she entitled to the pay?

Any employee is entitled to receive Statutory Maternity Pay if they worked for a given company continuously for 26 weeks or longer up to and into the 15th week before the baby’s due. However, there are two other requirements apart from that: A, the employee’s average income must be equal to or higher than the Lower Earnings Limit (LEL) for National Insurance contributions; B, the expectant mother has to provide the employer with documents confirming the pregnancy and saying when she would like to start receiving payments.
