You have the right to 1 year of maternity leave: 26 weeks of 'Ordinary Maternity Leave' and 26 weeks 'Additional Maternity Leave' no matter how long you have worked for a given company, how many hours you work or what your earnings are. You only have to give your employer proper notice.
Unfortunately, employees who have worked for less than 26 weeks for a given company are not entitled to Statutory Maternity Pay. However, you may be eligible for Maternity Allowance from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).
